Where our product information comes from
Our product pages are based on information published by each brand – mainly its official website and packaging. Claims, test results and figures on a product page are the brand's own statements. Where we explain in our own words what an ingredient does, we base this on recognised references such as the EU CosIng ingredient database, and we keep the wording no stronger than the source.
Ingredients and packaging
Brands sometimes change formulas, ingredient lists, sizes or packaging without notice, so the item you receive may differ slightly from the one shown on our website. The ingredient list, directions and warnings printed on the packaging of your product always take priority. Please read them before use, especially if you have allergies or sensitive skin.
Product images
Product images and colour swatches are a guide only. Colours can look different depending on your screen and lighting.
"Sensitive skin" and similar descriptions
Descriptions such as "suitable for sensitive skin", "gentle" or "low-irritation" come from the brand. They are not regulated or standardised terms in the UK and cannot guarantee that a product will suit everyone. If your skin is very sensitive, please check the full ingredient list and contact the brand if you are unsure.
Using products safely
- For external use only. Follow the directions and warnings on the packaging.
- Patch test before first use: apply a small amount to a discreet area, such as the inner arm, and check how your skin reacts before using it more widely.
- Stop using a product if redness, irritation or discomfort occurs, and seek medical advice if it does not settle.
- Products containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs, such as glycolic, lactic, malic or mandelic acid) or retinoids (such as retinol or retinal) can make skin more sensitive to the sun. Use sunscreen during the day while using them.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a skin condition, or are using prescribed skin treatments, check with a doctor or pharmacist before using products that contain retinoids or other active ingredients.
- Keep products out of the reach of children.
